The Process

Each project is tailored and unique, from its initial concept to its final installation. A collaborative approach is taken between our design team, homeowners, contractors, and outside designers, to ensure that every client is completely satisfied with their kitchen and bathroom projects. Thomas and Birch designs and carries out projects with curated products selected for their quality and beauty. Our millwork is Cabico Custom Cabinetry and Elmwood Cabinets.

1. Initial Consultation: Meet with one of our kitchen and bath designers at our showroom. Please bring your room dimensions and your wish list for the project. Appliances, fixtures, and finishes will be discussed broadly, but no specific decisions need to be made at this point.

*At this point, a design retainer is obtained to proceed with drawings, revisions and site visits. The design retainer is credited to your account when you place your order.

2. Presentation: Your designer will present drawings and an estimate for the work and materials discussed. They will go over the design with detailed explanations and make any recommendations they feel would be beneficial.

3. Revision: At this stage, your designer will visit your site to verify measurements and site conditions. Changes may be made based on the findings. Once the final design has been confirmed, a contract with a fixed quotation for cabinetry (delivery and installation included), countertops, and appliances will be issued.

4. Order: To confirm an order, a signed contract and the specified deposit will be required (50% of the total contract). Final drawings will then be completed and issued to all appropriate parties. All contracted parts for the project are ordered by us. Lead time for cabinetry is typically nine weeks from the date of order. There may be seasonal variations.

5. Install: A delivery and install start/completion dates will be given in the weeks following your order. The full remaining balance will be due ten business days before the delivery and installation on site. Installation time depends on the size and complexity of your project; we will have allotted the appropriate amount of days based on the final drawings. During installation, your kitchen and bath designer will visit the site to ensure all products meet our quality standards and that installation is going smoothly. We recommend that your plumber/electrician are on-site during the final days of our installation to connect the appliances to the service.
